I received a sample of your dog food and my dog loved it. I have never seen her like a dry dog food like this before. I will be buying more at the store.

Back To Basics,

I have a blue Great Dane who is just a little over 6 months old. I've been feeding her Back to Basics kibble for the last three months. She is doing very well on it. Her stools are well formed and easy to scoop. I've not had any problems with shipping so I've always been able to have delivery on the next bag before running out.

With her last visit to the vet, even he remarked on the shine of her coat. After telling him what I fed her, he seemed to be interested in it. I have all the Back To Basics information and pamphlets that I will be giving the vet on our next visit.

I'm really convinced that it is the best. That's all Myst and any dog I have in the future will have as her/their main food.

Hello,

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that my Great Danes (Brittany and Merlin) love Back to Basics. They have been eating it for approximately 2 months now. At first, I was a little nervous when they stopped eating so much. They don't eat as much as they used to with to old yukky food we fed them (which our vet recommended).
Now with Back to Basics, we have noticed that Brittany has even gained weight. We tried a lot of things since we got her... we got her from Great Dane Rescue and she was very thin. She put on 20 pounds when we got her... but she still looked very thin. Now we have noticed that she is gaining weight and she looks good now. She could stand to gain a few more pounds... but at this rate... I'm sure she will.

Back to Basics is probably one of the best things we have done for our dogs.

Thank You

Kelly Hemly

Back to Basics,

I have been using Pork Back to Basics for approximately 10 months. I have a 21 month old Great Dane, Gus, who receives 4 cups a feeding twice a day and a 12 year old Golden Retriever, Auntie Em, who received 1 cup a feeding twice a day. They both love it have consistently smaller, firm stools than with other dog foods. There is no nearby local distributor so I have the feed shipped to my address. I am very pleased with the product and the service.

Hi,

I am a new user of Back to Basics pork dog food. My two year old female Harlequin Great Dane has been on prescription I/D food since she was about 20 weeks old. We have over time tried to wean her onto several different premium brand foods. We never got more that 20% premium brand and 80% prescription bland food without having horrible diarrhea. UNTIL Back to Basics Pork. We took about 45 days to wean her onto it, and I am glad to say that she is now eating 100% Back to Basics pork. This has been a wonderful find for us and we will NEVER switch. It is MUCH cheaper for us to feed Back to Basics than for us to feed prescription food (we were paying $53 for 40#). My other dogs are also now eating Back to Basics and I am very pleased.

My mother recently switched too, after I spoke so highly of it. She has a 1 year old female lab/boxer mix. She swears that the stool volume has decreased drastically. Now, I can't testify to this. As it is much harder to tell something like that when I have 5 dogs of my own, and sometimes have a foster Great Dane, and other times have 3-4 foster Danes... so comparing volume would be quite the scientific ordeal, but my mom swears it is so.

Take it from us, you will be pleased with Back to Basics... I know of several people who have switched TO it and are very pleased. I do not know of even one who has switched FROM it to something else. That should say a lot.

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks Back to Basics for the quality of your food. It has changed the life of my St. Bernard, Fred. He has had many skin problems and also has been very high strung his whole life. I was told that the corn in the food I was feeding caused it.

I was hesitant to feed Back to Basics because of the corn, but after talking with other people who were feeding it I decided to give it a try.

I can't tell you how much of a difference it has made. Fred now has a great coat, no skin problems and he is a much happier relaxed dog. I have saved a lot of money in not only vet bills, but also Fred eats less than he did on my other food.

I showed my vet your information and told him about the changes in Fred. He said that Back to Basics must be a very high quality food and that made all the difference. He is now telling other people about your food.
Again, thank you for coming out with a better food. It has made Fred and I very happy.

I have been running my dogs in field trials for years and I want you to know that your food (Back To Basics) has given them the ability to really compete. My younger dogs are working harder with less rest time and my older dogs feel like they want to run with them. My 8 year old was retired until I started her on your food, now she runs with the rest of them. In fact, she sometimes beats the younger dogs. Thanks for being there for my dogs. It's truly a great food.

I have never taken the time to write a testimonial before. Even when a product was good, it seemed too much effort and I had plenty of excuses why I shouldn't bother. The fact that I am writing this one should say to Back to Basics that you have greatly moved me.

I want people to know that your product is not only everything it says it is, but so much more. I had always thought I was doing the best for my dog and cat, and had tried to read what I could on nutrition. Neither of my guys where sickly, but neither were really healthy either. I had a friend tell me about Back to Basics so I called, that was 8 months ago. Since, my golden retriever, Sadie is no longer on medication for colitis. She has normal stools, no gas and is in better health than she has ever been. I didn't realize how she must have been feeling until she got better. My cat, Fluff, eats all of her meals with zest and has not had a problem with urination since I started.

I can not thank you enough for bettering the life of my best friends. The other reason that I felt a need to write this for your exceptional company is that each time I have called your 800 number I have been treated like a special person. You have always answered my many questions with clarity and caring. Sadie, Fluff and I are very glad that Back to Basics was there for us.

Thank You

I speak highly of B2B only because of how well my crew have done on it,,,, and because in the past I have had obedience student whose dogs had "behavior" problems on " store bought" foods. I don't "buy into" the belief that only poor breeding and mental problems cause things like excessive chewing, (on themselves or other inappropriate articles) 'neorotic' behaviors like barking at nothing, and inability to pay attention. Intsead, I think a 'complete' quality diet allows the brain to function properly, and perhaps allows the animal to supercede the owners expectations. Many housebreaking and related issues are definitely related to diet, and internal health, I feel the food helps improve that health, even in chronically ill dogs.

I have been feeding Back to Basics chicken to my seven year old Borzoi for over a year and a half now, and she is thriving on it. When I first adopted her, she was on another major "pet store" brand of dog food. She had sporadic, unexplained bouts of diarrhea with no change in diet. The last time it happened, a stool culture revealed an overload of bacteria. However, the vet could not tell me why it happened or why it happened so often, He even suggested that my dog might have to " live on antibiotics" to which I replied, " over my dead body" . I started doing my homework, A Great Dane breeder suggested I try Back to Basics. When I realized that it had beneficial bacteria in it, that was all the encouragement I needed to buy it.It's certainly been economical, a 40lb bag lasts me three months, and there have been No recurrences of the bacterial overload problem. Makes sense, doesn't it? If there is a constant supply of the "good overload of the bad. I've recommended it to every dog person I meet, handed over your literature and given them my "lecture" on what's really in commercial dog food (like other people's euthenized animals yuck) and I know many of them have converted.

Thanks for such a great product!

My dogs, Roxy and Jody just love your food. My vet told me about your company. He personally gives it to his mastiff.

Thank you so much for telling me about the "Back To Basics". I have now used it with all my collies and I am so pleased with the results. My puppy bitch with the skin problem is no longer breaking out or itching and is now growing deep dark patches of thick healthy hair. As a bonus, my dog who always has bowel problems with diarrhea, and needs metronidazole to stop it, now for the first time, has normal healthy stools. Even my senior bitch tolerates it well with no problem. All coats are getting better and better, plus they clean their bowls!!!!!! I thought I was already feeding her premium food, but my pup no longer scratches at herself after eating. Another plus is the wonderful energy they have! They are diggerent dogs. I just ordered my third bag and will continue to feed it. I also add vitamin C, E, and prenzyme to the food. I hope I am doing the best I can for them. My girl is so clear that I entered her in her first show. I don't know how to ever thank you for helping me. It's such a godsend. I was told to " give up on her" and send her back but I tried on more approach.....the change in diet.
Thanks for listening to a stranger

Ladies and Gentleman:

I wanted to thank you for a wonderful, superior food. I switched after I recieved a sample at a dog show in New York State in the Finger Lakes region. Since feeding "Back to Basics", My dog, Wizard, has had some phenomenal racing events. He was Best in Field at one of the premium lure coursing trials on the East Coast. The Region 8 Invitational. A few weeks later we went straight racing, Whippet Race Association, he placed third in a very competitive field. The next day he won the national Oval Track Racing Association meet going undefeated. I can't say enough about his performance after switching to your food. Next year he is going to spend the summer racing in California and I am very glad it will be so easy to keep him on your feed. I have no doubt with the ease of getting your feeds; you will obtain several faithful followers such as myself.

Hello Back to Basics,

I found you on the internet while doing research about lymphoma, which my one golden has. He is getting chemo and would no longer eat the Precise dry dog food, but he would eat yours. Both my dogs are eating it now. Back to Basics is the only food I have tried that the golden getting chemotherapy will eat.

Thank you for making a wonderful product.

Dear Beowulf Natural Feeds, Inc.

We would like to let you know how pleased we are with your Back to Basics pet foods. After carrying other premium pet foods for several years, we decided to do some more research and found your foods to be of a much higher quality than the other pet foods we had been carrying and / or recommending. We felt if our clients cared enough to feed high quality nutritional products to their pets, that we should be offering the best food we possibly could.

We have been carrying and recommending Back to Basics foods now for over a year, and are very pleased with the overwhelming response it is receiving from both our clients and our staff. But most of all we are pleased with the differences our clients can see in their pets overall appearance and health. Many of the pets eating Back to Basics have shown improved skin and hair coat, better energy levels, have less digestive problems, and seem to stay at a leaner body weight. We are now recommending the food with confidence knowing the improvements seen by the pets' owners as well as our staff.

We have welcomed the addition of Back to Basics foods to our preventive health care program.

Sincerely,
Steven M. Bruck, DVM

I wrote you a few days ago about my dog Beasley. The picky lil' Shih Tzu, who will not eat dog food without being hand fed. As I told you, my husband and I found Back to Basics at the Home Show, in Boston. Knowing that it was just a waste of money, but at this stage of the game were were willing to try anything. We purchased 2 trial sizes, one chicken and one pork. To our amazement Beasley ate the food

No, you just don't understand... she ate the food, HERSELF! Since the day we took possession of this litle criminal we have had to hand feed her, one piece at a time. If we fail to place the food in her mouth in the correct manner, she will spit the food right back at us. ... She will be 9 yrs. old on the 4th of july, and she is indeed a "Tubbo"

All Kidding aside, this is the first dog food this dog has ever eaten herself and truly enjoys.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this product!

Our three boys have never looked or felt better since we switched them to Back to Basics. All three of our boys are a part of our local pet visitation/therapy program, Sunshine Friends Inc. since changing there food not only have we seen a notable change in their coats, but the people we visit always comment on how shiny and soft they are. We have also noticed that they have much more energy, are eating less and leaving less for us to pick up in the lawn. Our middle child always had a very sensitive stomach; he has not had to be put on prescription formula since we have switched over to Back to Basics. We have no children of our own, only the 4 legged kind that we have adopted into our hearts and home. Nothing can compare to the love, acceptance and companionship we get from our boys, or the smiles, laughter, and love that they bring to those they visit, and because of that they deserve the best, Back to Basics! Thank you for an awesome product that we can feel good about feeding to our boys!

You should get a chuckle out of this. I waited a couple of days too late to order it and ran out of food Sunday morning. I went over to PetSmart and got a small bag of their old food for dinner and breakfast Monday morning. Tarzan, our Vizsla, is a real pig (he brings me his food bowl if he feels it is time to eat and I have missed it!). He normally jumps into the air and runs to where he eats. Sunday evening he just picked at his food and half-heartedly ate it when I urged him a bit. Monday, UPS came just in time for dinner almost and I told him his "good" food was here. He sniffed the box, started jumping up and down - he really prefers your food and he will eat ANYTHING, so I was so surprised!

I knew your food was a better quality than what they had before, now I know it tastes better too!

Cindy and Tarzan, Cassie, and Kendra

It is my understanding that you are the owner of Back to Basics, as well as being a breeder.

I am writing to you to simply say thank you. Your food has solved a myriad number of problems for me and of course, my beloved Irish Setter, Conor.

While you do not advertise your dog food as a solution for dogs suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), I have tried it with my dog and it is the ONLY food he can keep down. I am not sure if you are familiar with IBD, but the cause of it remains mostly a mystery. This is something that I have found out as I have been dealing with this horrible disease. One factor that is a huge suspect is food allergies, though the list of other factors is quite large.

Through trial and error, and with my vets help, we have come to the conclusion that Conor is allergic or at least has a bad reaction to gluten. Do you know how hard it is to actually find a dog food that does not Contain gluten? Perhaps you do, being a breeder and someone who obviously cares about animals. I want to thank you profusely for creating a dog food that does not contain this ingredient AND so many other ingredients that were probably upsetting my dog's digestive system. Your product is a godsend. I cannot overemphasize this. I am not being dramatic.....I am stating a fact.

I stumbled onto your product by accident. My sister, Wendy, was visiting me with her Cairn Terrier, Noelle. When she bought her Cairn from the breeder, she was instructed to only feed your product. She did so, and Noelle has had no health concerns whatsoever. I, on the other hand did not fare so well. I bought Conor from a breeder in Kentucky. I was told to continue feeding him Purina Pro Plan. To make a long story short, I discovered that Conor had been on Reglan long term to assist motility and to prevent vomiting y the breeder. Of course within days of bringing him home and not being on Reglan, Conor started vomiting. There was no question of me returning the dog as unfit to the breeder. He had already wormed his way into my heart. My vet was wonderful in assisting me with diagnosing IBD, but not before expensive surgery and two scopes!

Anyway, Conor accidentally got into Noelle's food during my sisters visit. I held my breath, thinking that vomiting was imminent, as Conor had not had his dose of Reglan. No vomiting happened. As a matter of fact, Conor was quite cheerful, something that was not usual after eating (if I could even get Conor to eat anything). The next day, without giving him Reglan first, I fed him two cups of the Back To Basics Chicken Formula that my sister had brought with her. Conor devoured it. I was actually close to tears as I had always had to coax him to eat anything. We watched him closely for signs of vomiting, but again, Conor was cheerful and no vomiting occurred.

My sister gave me all the information about your company and I checked you out online. I called your toll free number and was helped by a fantastic employee. I even got five dollars off my first order! I actually only ordered your smallest bag, again because I had been burned so badly by other promising looking dog foods. I just placed my second order, for your16 pound bag as Conor has now gone nine days without vomiting AND I have taken him completely off Reglan. Conor still takes Imuran, but that is for the suppression of his immune system which is a key way to put IBD in remission. The way, I look at it however, is that the fewer drugs my dog is on...the better.

Again, I want to thank you. Conor practically rips the dog dish out of my hand even before I can place it in his eating area, something I would have bet that would never happen. He has already gained some weight and, quite frankly, he is a different dog. You have a customer for as long as I own dogs. I will never consider another dog food.

God Bless you.

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to take a moment of your time and tell you a story about my dog, Grease Lightning. He is a Master Hunter Retriever and a professional hunting dog. On a normal day's hunt, he quarters a 450 acre Preserve twice. Yes, what I am saying is that he searches 900 acres of land in one day.

When we aren't hunting, he is busy training staying in shape for competitions and MHR Field Tests. They say that the only dogs to have such a strenuous training program are the dogs that run in the Iditarod champion dogsled races. Grease's routine consists of sprinting up to 6 miles on land and water up to 4 days a week.

This is where Back to Basics comes in. As you can see we are talking about a very athletic dog that needs an athlete's diet in order to maintain his strength and stamina.

I tried all the popular brands of foods. Such brands include Eukenuba, Professional Formula, Solid Gold, Eagle, Nutromax, etc... He did perform better on some than others, but I had to split my routines with a lot of down time during the day. He would overheat easily on some foods after only 3, 100 yard runs and I would have to hydrate him and let him rest for about 45 minutes before he could run again.

It was impossible to get in the training needed in any reasonable amount of time. Then, one day I was at a dog show and a representative for your company was there. I talked to them for about an hour about my problems and needs. They explained how a dog needs fat for energy and protien for muscle and I could greatly benefit from this dog food due to the quality of protein and high fat content.

I had nothing to lose at this point, so I tried your food. In two weeks, we completely switched over to Back to Basics and have been using it ever since. We have been using it for about two years now.

My training team noticed the difference in Grease Lightning. The name finally fit him. His power and drive became remarkable. He gained four pounds in lean muscle mass in one month. His stamina is what amazed me. I invite you to see for yourself. I can't wear him out. Believe me, I try.

Grease is now 4 years old. We want to the vet for a routine exam. The vet said he has seen alot of dogs in his time, but never one with a heart that sounds like his. He called in two other colleagues into the exam room so they could hear it. The comments were, "What a set of pipes, it sounds like a big bass drum, Boom! Boom!" They even asked if they could take an EKG and send it to a well-known cardiologist in Albany, Dr. Joel Edwards for study. I said sure. The report that came back showing that Grease had an extremely healthy athletic heart with an excellent diet.

So as you can see, we are very happy with your Back to Basics dog food. We would also like to thank you for your very helpful nutritionist. Any time I have any questions; they go out of their way to help.

Enclosed, you will find some pictures for the hardest working retriever you will ever meet. Thank you for your wonderful food. If you look into Grease's eyes you will see that he thanks you too.

Yours truly

Hello!

I, like probably everyone that has had such great results with your food, just want to THANK YOU!! I have a a 18 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback who has a very delicate stomach. He had loose stools off and in until I began using you food 3 months ago. My husband and I tried ALL the ultra premioum dogs foods and nothing worked. Your pork formula is the only food that doesn't uspet his stomach. You guys are great!!

I don't have a question...I just wanted to let you know how wonderful your food is. I have a miniature schnauzer who is approximately 13 years old... she has been riddled with allergies and ear infections her whole life and on predonisone most of her life. To make a long story short, I decided that she needed a healthier diet so I started homecooking for her. Within about a year, she started becoming incontinent losing weight and hair and my vet suspected Cushings. I had been giving your food to my other two dogs so I tried it on Shotzie... to my amazement she stopped piddling and now her hair is growing back. Obviously, it agrees with her. I truly thought she was a goner. Thanks for your food.
